In addition to experiencing the Golden Road, there are so many other activities to experience in Inderøy and the surrounding region. We detail some of them here:
Cultural trails / hiking trails
The Cultural Trail between Straumen and Vangshylla
The trail is about 18 km long one way and you can walk the path in its entirety (5-6 hours), or select one of several natural stages. Along the trail there are several cultural, historical and botanical sights, which are described in more detail on special information boards (about 50 in total). On the information boards you can read about historical sites, plants and animals. And about the people who lived here.
Start the hike with a visit to the farm shop on Gulburet, where among other things can buy warm home baking and home made candy. Or enjoy a good cup of coffee or a delicious lunch in the cafe. You follow the old road on the hillside above Inderøy from Gulburet through the centre of Straumen and through the Muustrø Park, past Old Sakshaug church and up to Øyna. The last hill up to Øyna is steep, but well worth the trip as you are rewarded with panoramic views of the Trondheimfjorden and the Borgenfjorden. Finish the hiking trip with a well deserved meal, with ingredients sourced from local suppliers in the municipalities that can be seen from Øyna.
