There are few products that make it through the eye of the needle and receive the Spesialitet designation. And then—there are a very select few local food producers who manage to do this multiple times. Gangstad Gårdsysteri is one such producer," said the minister during the presentation.
The two new products are in the series of farm ice cream from Gangstad, which uses local flavors as much as possible.
Black Currant Yogurt Ice Cream
Made from Gangstad's own milk. Black currant juice and a sugar mixture are then blended in. "Black Currant Yogurt Ice Cream" has a fine color and an inviting black currant aroma.
Raspberry Delight - A fresh and tangy sorbet.
The raspberries are from Sparbu. They are heated and pressed, and the juice is mixed with a sweetening brine and water before pasteurization. "Raspberry Delight" smells of ripe raspberries and has a wonderful, airy consistency.
"For many years, Gangstad Gårdsysteri has been awarded the Spesialitet designation for several of its cheese products. That they are now also receiving Spesialitet for their ice creams is fantastic," says Marit Strand, who is the specialist manager for Spesialitet.
What is "Spesialitet"?
Spesialitet is the labeling scheme that points the way to the best of local food and drink in Norway.
An independent professional jury with high culinary expertise decides which products are of high enough quality to qualify for the scheme.
We at The Golden Road congratulate Gangstad Gårdsysteri on the awards - We are proud of their Inderøy product, this is a big deal!
