The world's northernmost
The very first winner of the SPIRE award is Inderøy 64° Nord, the world's northernmost producer of mustard and rapeseed oil. The products are made with natural ingredients, completely free of additives.
– Inderøy 64° Nord has made an impressive effort in establishing unique production at our latitude. Jury chair Anja Gotvasli, head of agriculture at Sparebank 1 SMN, says this is innovation and sustainability in practice, and we cheer that on. She was joined on the professional jury by representatives from 6AM, Oi! and T:lab. They assessed five nominated candidates based on their ability to realize new ideas, sustainability, social responsibility, scalability, branding, and degree of innovation.
Investments have contributed to a low carbon footprint
– SPIRE aims to highlight mid-Norwegian entrepreneurs in food and drink who contribute to local value creation and the development of the food and drink culture in Trøndelag. Inderøy 64° Nord scores highly on the criteria. Among other things, they have made significant investments in the production facility, and the entire production process happens on the farm. This contributes to a low carbon footprint and high local value creation, little waste, and reduced transport, says Anja, ref. the SMN website.
