Mustard Production at Berg Farm – The Only Ones in Norway Growing Their Own Mustard Seeds

On the well-stocked farm in Inderøy, mustard seeds are now also grown, making them the only mustard producer in Norway cultivating on their own land. When the mustard field is in full bloom, the sun-yellow field can be seen from afar.

The mustard seeds are used in six types of self-produced mustard from the brand 64 Degrees North. They also produce rapeseed oil from rapeseed grown on their own land. Two ingredients that can form the base for a range of food products.

Aquavit Production from Home-Grown Caraway

At Berg Farm, several types of Inderøy aquavit are also produced by Inderøy Distillery, based on home-grown caraway. The aquavit is available at the Wine Monopoly and various dining establishments throughout Norway.

Meat Production, Farm Shop, and Dining Venue

The farm also includes sheep, free-range pigs, and beekeeping. Everything is processed and sold or served at the farm. Be sure to visit their charming farm shop, Landhandleriet, which is an experience in itself. Here you’ll find something for every taste, including local self-produced products (rapeseed oil, mustard, and cured sausages) and products from other suppliers. They also have a dining venue, Slakteriloftet, which can be rented for events and gatherings, where farm-produced, unprocessed food is served.

The Goal is to Utilize the Entire Cultural Landscape of the Farm

Initially, Berg Farm focused solely on grain production, but today they run a versatile operation that aims to utilize all the farm’s resources, including buildings, cultivated land, grazing land, and cultural heritage. In short, at Berg Farm, the goal is to make use of the entire cultural landscape in a sustainable business context.
