Mosvik Museum

Mosvik Museum is located in the old Grande school, right by the main road. We are open on Saturdays from June to August, and by appointment for group visits.

In the main building, you will find a classroom from the 1950s where we show the film "School Memories," a teacher family's living room circa 1950, a stuffed bear, and some smaller exhibitions.

Next to the school building is the smithy, with a collection of tools from the village blacksmith Ole Gjerde.

The croft Nesstu is under restoration and development.

Summer exhibition: - Nervika, from a croft settlement to a sawmill and industrial area.

The whole society is constantly changing, but in Nervika the major changes happened in a concentrated form during the post-war period. Where there were traditional small-scale farms around 1960, twenty years later there was a growing number of industrial buildings providing new jobs. The world-renowned success story Elsafe is one of the companies you will hear about in the exhibition.

MINI-LECTURES:
Every Saturday there is a mini-lecture at 12 PM:
07/05. "The Blacksmith in Olden Times" with blacksmith Loke
07/12. "The History of Norsk Limtre" with Ragnar Berg
07/19. "Childhood in Nervika" with Kari Aasan
07/26. "Mosvik Hatchery" with Trond A. Staberg
08/02. "The Diplomas at the Museum" with Morten O. Haugen
08/09. "Memories from the Elsafe Era" with Alvin Berg

BARN BRIDGE EXHIBITION
A charming new feature at Mosvik Museum this summer is a photo gallery of all the barn bridges in the village. Taxi driver and skilled amateur photographer Grethe B. Myrabakk has taken her camera along on her trips around the area. The result is available 24/7 as an outdoor exhibition.

CULTURAL HERITAGE TRAILS
If the museum is closed, you can also experience the history of the village through two cultural heritage trails. One that starts at the museum, and one that starts at the small boat harbor in Framverran.

OPENING HOURS: Every Saturday from June 28 through August 9.
11 AM - 2 PM

REFRESHMENTS AND SHOPPING AT KRAMBUA:

Every Saturday you can shop for knitwear, yarn, and knitting products at Krambua. You'll find it at Kaldalstua, the same farmstead as Mosvik Museum. They also offer coffee and waffles, of course.

Kjerringa me´Straumen - Klokkarstu

Klokkarstu is the little red house in the Straumen center where Kjerringa me´Straumen is located. This is probably the oldest house in Straumen.
Tests show that materials in the house are from timber that was cut in 1753.
The living quarters and outbuilding were connected. According to the 1755 census, a "Joen Klokker" (Joen the Sexton) then lived on a croft under Næss. In 1785, a sexton named Lars Olsen lived on a croft under Næss.
Klokkarstu likely got its name from "Joen klokker" or from "Lars Klokker". The Ness skerry outside Nessberget in Børgin is named Klokkarskjæret on old maps. Perhaps because the sexton had the right to collect eggs on the skerry? The municipality bought Klokkarstu from the estate of Dagny and Peder Næss (in the 1980s). The house was used as a welfare residence for some years before being converted for commercial lease.
Klokkarstu was used as an incubator space for artists for a few years, before it was renovated in 2018 and the 2nd floor was restored. There you can see the old timber walls that reflect the house. Inderøy municipality wanted the tenants of Klokkarstu to create activity in the Straumen center; that's what Kjerringa me’ Straumen tries to create every day! Welcome!
