How to travel to Inderøy
Inderøy is easy to reach whether you're coming by plane, train, boat, or car. With Trondheim Airport Værnes just about an hour away, your journey to Inderøy is never too far.
BY CAR
Heading south, it’s 105 km to Trondheim and about 230 km to both Oppdal and Røros. Going north, it’s 20 km to Steinkjer, 125 km to Grong, and 600 km to Bodø.
If you’re coming from the south along the E6, you have two options. You can either turn off at Bunnpris in Røra and arrive at Inderøy via Flagveien. This road is winding and hilly, but it leads you through a beautiful cultural landscape, passing Sund Folk High School along the way. The turnoff is signposted “Den Gyldne Omvei” from the E6.
Alternatively, take the E6 exit just after Røra Fabrikker and drive onto Fv. 755 towards Straumen town center in Inderøy. This route is shorter and partially follows the Borgenfjord.
If you’re coming from the north along the E6, you can turn off at Vist, 6 km south of Steinkjer. This road takes you onto Fv. 761, leading first to the village of Sandvollan where Gangstad Farm is located. From here, you can either head towards Kjerknesvågen or continue towards Straumen, the administrative center of Inderøy. The Vist exit is also signposted “Den Gyldne Omvei.”
BY TRAIN
If you’re traveling to Inderøy without a car, arriving by train with SJ Nord and using a pre-booked transport service is a good option.
You’ll take the Trønderbanen line, and the station is called Røra, located about 7 km southeast of Straumen in Inderøy. Note that the transport service from Røra must be booked at least 3 hours in advance and is available for a limited number of departures. In addition to Røra, the Trønderbanen local train from Trondheim also stops at Sparbu and Steinkjer stations, approximately 22 km north of Straumen.
BY BUS
From Steinkjer, Levanger, and Vanvikan in Fosen, you can take a bus with AtB to Mosvik town center and Straumen town center in Inderøy.

BY PLANE
Trondheim Airport Værnes is the nearest airport, just 75 km south towards Trondheim.
From Værnes, you can take the train to Røra station and use the transport service further on. For details, see the "travel by train" section on this page.
You can fly to Trondheim Airport Værnes with Norwegian Air Shuttle, SAS, Widerøe, or Air Baltic.
